MORE JOY FROM NEAR AND FAR...

How lucky am I today I picked up a parcel at the post office and it had come all the way from Colorado USA.  A few years back on a quilting bus trip I met a truly amazing lady named Kitty we were bus buddies and became good friends.  Years later we still correspond and I love every time I hear from her.  So how excited was I to pick up this box from the post office...
I opened it quickly..
How pretty and filled with goodies...
More to add to my Jim Shore collection!!  The two blue parcels at the back are special presents for my Grand children they will be so excited.  Thank you Kitty you are such a special person and wonderful friend.
Speaking of grand children we went to a local Christmas carols on the weekend and my little gran baby girl thought she would like Granny's hat and sun glasses...
Strike a pose...
She certainly did look better than her Granny.  And then her brother thought he might apply for a vacancy with Santa...
Isn't that a treat, best looking elf around I reckon.

What a blessing family and friends.....

SANTA SACK SWAP OPENING DAY!!!!!

Earlier this year I joined a Santa Sack Swap and how blessed was I because I was given the WONDERFUL Peg as my partner.  Yesterday was the big O (opening day) and this is how it went....

Beautiful parcels tied with string piled high on the floor....
Now that Peg must have gone to the store and asked for the toughest brown paper she could buy because no matter how hard I tried (and that was pretty hard) I could not "accidently" make a tiny peek hole in any of those parcels.  So under the tree they went in one piece...

At the big O I carefully and delicately unwrapped them....
Even my little dog in the background was excited...
Sooooo many presents piled high on the floor.....
Mum can I see what you got?
Boy Mum you did good that Peg sure is one generous swapper...
Let's open them and have a real good look.
Yummo and the box turned into this..
Coffee anyone????
Beautiful table runner...
One of Peg's world famous journels....
Beautiful pattern with frame....
Note pad, really nice smelling candle and this pig ate those pigs in about 2 seconds flat....
I just love this little wall hanging and months ago when I saw it on Pegs blog I said to hubby hope that's coming here and look it did!!  It must be Christmas because wishes come true.
And a stunning Santa Sack.......

Peg thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have been so generous and I just love all my presents.  But the greatest gift from this swap has been YOU.  You are an amazing person, kind, caring, supportive, generous and so much more and I will hold you dear in my heart for years to come.

To Chez what a wonderful person you are to give up so much of your time in making this swap happen and all the work and headaches that must come with it.  I for one am so grateful that you let this "no blogger" join and what a joy it has been - BIG HUGS AND THANK YOU.

Well that's all from me I am off to light my candle and have one of Pegs coffee sachets and do you think it is to early to open that box of chocolates......

LOOK MORE PRESSIES....

So today I was dragging my feet doing laundry and housework when I looked up and the postie was at the back door waving at me.  Not sure who got the bigger fright but I bet he tells his wife about the women who had her jarmies on with rubber gloves on and hair standing straight up in the air because she hadn't put a brush through it yet!
After the shock I looked and my parcel was all the way from Canada.  My beautiful friend Penny, Penny, Penny had sent me a brown box.  So I ripped it open..
And inside was all of this...
How lucky am I.  Magazines, chocolates, Jim Shore fabric and the most beautiful Jim Shore sewing angel who now sits pride of place in my sewing room watching over me.  Thank you Penny it just made my day.  My beautiful friend Penny is going through some difficulties at the moment so I am sending huge love and hugs her way.  Stay strong buddy and I'll see you at the Barn no matter what where we can have an enormous hug and some "ugly" crying.

Take special care

SANTA SACK SWAP HAS LANDED!!!!

Why is it when it comes to decorating the house I can find my Christmas spirit but when it comes to the shopping ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.  So yesterday hubby and I headed off to a large shopping centre to try and get it over once and for all.  While we didn't manage to get it all we did make a big dent in it so I was very pleased.  But how happy was I when I got home, the postie had been, on a Sunday no less, and delivered this.........

Quick where is a knife so I can open the box...
Oh look lot's of treasures...
I was a good girl and popped them under the tree.  Ok so I held them up to the light, I also held them tightly hoping my finger might go through the paper but Peg had used really strong brown paper, so in the end they ended up under the tree in tact.

I have been incredibly lucky to be part of this swap.  My thanks to Cheryll who puts so much time and effort into organising this swap she really is wonderful.
While I am thrilled with my presents the greatest gift to me has been getting Peg as my partner, she is an amazing person and I will treasure this year long after the swap has ended.

So come on Mr Postman get a wriggle on a girl can only be patient for so long..

FRIDAY NIGHT WITH FRIENDS...

Thank you Cheryll for hosting FNWF.  I'm sorry my name appeared three times on the list but this week has been a little "challenging" with the computer at one stage it nearly ended up as a flotation device in the swimming pool.  I'm still not sure if I have fixed what I broke or even if I fixed the no reply blogger so big fingers crossed it all works.  I also tried to link to Cheryll so wouldn't that be a hoot if I have finally managed to do it (it has taken a while).

Anyway last night I finished this....
A little blanket made out of minkee fabric - soooo soft.
The back is this and also minkee...

I also put the finishing touches on this...
Another big boy.  This has a twin I made two the same one is an order and one is a gift for a friend.  I'm just not sure how I will wrap him!!  He looks pretty cute on my bench it feels like he is keeping me company.  Tea came tonight wrapped in paper - nothing better.
Well that's me done I'm now off with a cup of tea in hand to see what everyone else got up to last night.

Thanks for dropping by..

I AM A DINOSAUR.

When it comes to a sewing machine years of practice and doing piece work for a living has made me very capable.  You need 100 t-shirts made in one day I am your girl.  Fifty costumes for a school concert - no worries. If you need I can sew 12 hours straight and not even flinch.  But give me anything else that needs to be plugged into work and I am useless.  When it comes to computers,
I Pads, I Pods, televisions etc I can break them by just looking at them.  When the beautiful Peg encouraged me to blog I laughed at her sharing with her my nif naf computer skills.  But she convinced me I would love it.  So my wonderful daughter spent a lot of time setting me up and teaching me how to blog and off I went and I have really enjoyed it.  I got a lovely email from a gorgeous girl Anthea who told me I was a no reply blogger.  Well I had no idea what that was but it didn't sound good.  Anthea was very kind and armed with the info I was going to go to the IT Department (my daughter) but she was a little poorly so I didn't want to trouble her so how hard could it be I would fix this on my own.  So picture this computer on lap, I Pad in one hand, I Phone in the other and I was off.  I spent many hours (to embarrassed to tell you how many) trying to fix my profile but it looked nothing like the internet pictures.  I must have looked at every page and pushed every button so eventually I took myself off to bed with the realisation that my son is right - I am a dinosaur.  The computer age has left me behind, I am more comfortable with a stamp on an envelope and I would feel right at home in an Amish community.
With a sleep and the light of a new day I tried again - I think I have fixed the no reply blogger but have messed something else up ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I wonder if there is an Amish community near by.

Hope you are having a great day.

SANTA HERE WE COME.

Since my gran daughter was born (this is her third Christmas) we have taken her into the city to take her to Myer to see Santa.  So yesterday was the day.  We loaded up my daughters big car with a toddler seat and baby capsule in the back there isn't much room but my second daughter squeezed in between.  We loaded the rocket ship (photo to follow) into the back and the huge baby bag and off we went for our yearly outing to the "Big Smoke".
My daughter navigated the city traffic wonderfully, fitted that big car into a very little car parking place and then we unpacked all the "stuff" out of the car.  We loaded the rocket ship..
Toddler on the front (she had escaped by the time I got the camera out) baby on the top and boy does it take up a lot of space.  When we got to Myer (we thought we were nice and early) there were about 40 families in front of us!  So Miss Two and I headed to the ornament department (am I crazy I can hear you all saying) I held her hand nice and tight and she got to pick one for her own tree, she picked a bright pink handbag covered in glitter - how cute was that.  She picked a blue bear for her new "bruvver" and I just got a couple of trinkets!
Miss Two then waited soooo patiently in line......
She still wasn't going anywhere near Santa's lap but she didn't cry - but her brother did...
We had a lovely morning tea at Brunetti and lunch at a cafĂ©.  We them loaded up the car and headed home.  It was a stinking hot day yesterday so feet were like two little pork sausages when we got home.  It is so precious to have this special day with my two big girls and my two little babies...

Have a special day

HARVESTING.

Today the sun was shining and the birds were singing so out into the garden I went and I picked these,
And these..
And these..
How exciting when all of the hard winter work starts to blossom.  Only down side is I got a thorn in my finger from a rose and it is a little red and sore, hope that goes away by tomorrow.  Big day today my daughters, gran babies and myself are off to the big smoke.  Will tell you about it tonight - wish me luck with the traffic and parking.

Have a happy day.

HAVE I SHOWN YOU THIS.....

This is the last few photos of the decorating I have to show...

MY OTHER CUPBOARD

This cupboard is a little hard to photograph because is has a mirror at the back of it but I love it.  It holds a lot of my favourite Jim Shore pieces and stays out all year round...
At this time of year I add this..
These three Santa's are just amazing and the work and detail in them is just beautiful, I bought them years ago from a girl who hand made them and I pack them away safely every year and when they come out I know Christmas isn't far away.

I also want to show you a couple of my favourite Jim Shore pieces in the cupboard, this..
And this...
And this..
And everyone needs a Nativity..
And last but not least one of my favourite things...
So that's it I do hope you have enjoyed my decorating for those of you who have asked my "Christmas injury" has healed nicely thank you.

Tomorrow I will post some more goodies I am putting up for sale so drop by if you are interested.

Hope you had a great Sunday.

MORE SHOW AND TELL.

I have a little more to show but first I wanted to share.  I received an email asking me how long it took to decorate the dresser.  I do it in stages and this time it took me a few days but I worked on it for most of the days.  The hardest part is putting the garland and the lights up the very top.  I'm not that tall and if I had any brains I would get a ladder but no I get a chair and I go from the floor to the chair to the first ledge of the dresser and luckily it is very strong and can hold my weight and then I stand on tip toes to get it up.  Then I get back down and stand back to look.  I also made many trips up and down the chair to reach the top shelf and at the end of the first day I had the garland and lights up and the top shelf completed and was a little pleased with myself until I got out of bed the next morning.  Firstly I could barely get out of bed the muscles in the back of my legs were crying they were hurting that much - I had a Christmas injury - pulled two "hammies" in the backs of my legs.  So the next day I had to have a day of rest and limped around the house.  I rallied the next day and finished it off.  So today I want to show one of my favourite things....

WAIT THERE'S MORE......

Tonight I would like to share one of my favourite things in my house, my big kitchen dresser.  When I found the cupboard I mentioned in passing to my husband I had found a kitchen dresser, I failed to mention how big it was and that it came in two sections!  When I first started decorating the cupboard I only did the bottom section this year I managed to fill the four shelves...

MY DRESSER

 Side on...
How about a close up...
and..
and..
I think if you look closely you can see one or two pieces from Jim.....

And there is this...
And my favourite pillow all made from wool - very snuggly...
I think that's enough for tonight tomorrow I will share another one of my favourite things.

Kindest Thoughts
