So I have been head down you know what up sewing for Saturday (thank you everyone who has been kind enough to wish me good luck) and today driving down to get milk I kept thinking Pom Pom Santa doesn't have a buddy.  I like things to have a buddy, normally if I make a Santa he then gets a pal.  So driving along I kept thinking he really does need a friend...
Tah Dah, sorry the photo is not crash hot there is a nasty storm brewing outside and it has turned really really dark and windy...
Don't be fooled these little guys aren't very big but I think they are cute - do you?
There you go Pom Pom Santa now you have you very own buddy - nothing nicer than a good friend.

Well boys it's time to start getting ready for Saturday when hopefully you will find a new home.  So come and get your tag, fluff up your beard and jump in the box...
You big boys will have to snuggle up a bit it's going to be a tight fit..
So practice sitting up straight with your chest puffed out - you want to look your best..

Busy day today one Pom Pom Santa turned into many Pom Pom Santa's so they decided to have a Pom Pom Party!!
A few more of them were over at the refreshment table.  A bigger Santa is waiting patiently in the background for his face to be put on so he could go to the party....

Yesterday I took off my pom pom hat, put my gumboots away, folded up my tracksuit pants, told the Santa's I couldn't play today, folded up the glue gun - it was going to be a no work Sunday yee har!!
For Mothers Day I received two tickets to THE KING AND I and after a long wait yesterday was the day.  The only downside was hubby and I had to go into the city.  This is something we reluctantly and rarely do - too many traffic lights, too many people and who in heavens name created those stupid box turns.  We put on our Sunday best and left plenty of time, easily found a car park and went looking for somewhere to eat.  Found a Salumi Bar now neither of us new what that meant but there was food in the window so that was a good sign.  In we went and it turns out it's a fancy name for a place that serves pizza!!  Well lunch was delicious and then off to the theatre.  The show was amazing and the costumes were just stunning - I just wanted to duck out the back and have a closer look at how they were made.  What a great way to spend a Sunday.
Back to work today and I have the grandkids Mondays, after they have gone and I've had a Bex and a Nanna Nap (just joking - about the Bex anyway) I ducked into the sewing room to finish a little Santa I had started.  Met Pom Pom....
He isn't very big fit's in the palm of your hand.  I think he's cute what do you think?

Okay so I had two home day flopping around the house in my jarmies, hair all over the place, slippers and generally acting like a sloth.  Aren't you allowed to do that on cold foggy days?  Well today no fog so no excuse and everything needed food from the dog to the sheep to the hubby and kids....
I did manage to sneak into the sewing room and finish....
This a small version of the Big Fella I made last Christmas he just needs his shoes painted...So all the little Santa's are feeling a little insecure and worried they might not get a new home but I told them
size doesn't matter (right?) and they had to think positive and keep their fingers crossed.
A lot of my blogging buddies are off to retreats this weekend - HAVE A GREAT TIME GIRLS!!

Thursday, 24 July 2014

We have been surrounded by fog for four days now most days it hasn't lifted till late afternoon.  Today it looks like this..
Brrrrrr right?  So yesterday I stayed inside as much as I could, yes in my jarmies for a good part of the morning tucked up with the heater humming away in the background and I finished my little swag I was working on..
These little guys are only about 9 or so inches tall.  Managed to finish 3 sets so they can go into the box for the trading table.
I stuffed a few more things last night and it looks like it will stay cold and foggy for a while - so what's a girl to do - cuppa, jarmies and off to the sewing room........

Wednesday, 23 July 2014

Remember the other day when I showed you Santa who thought he was "all that"?  Well yesterday he got some competition..
Poor Santa....we still love you...
We have been surrounded by fog for days and yesterday at lunch time I went out to see what my two new girls were up to..
This was at lunch time, girls where are you?????
Thank heavens there you are.
The fog is worse this morning so what else do you do on a cold Winter's morning - arc up the heater and off to the sewing room to finish a little swag I'm working on.
I might even stay in my jarmies for a little longer.

If roses grow in Heaven
Then pick a bunch for me
And place them in my mother's arms
And tell her there from me

Sunday, 20 July 2014

Now I showed you that huge pile that "got stuffed"(yes I said got).  Well some turned into this..
And some turned into this..
He thought he might strike a pose for you..
Sorry this Santa thinks he is a bit of alright, when his buddies get their heads on (hopefully tomorrow) he will have a little of competition so with a bit of luck that will bring him back to reality.  The Reindeer are patiently waiting because they now their Mother is still poorly and they want to thank everyone who sent lovely thoughtful messages.  With a bit of luck tomorrow she will wake up ship shape and shiny.

I joined the girls for Friday Night With Friends, thanks Wendy for having us over.  As I mentioned I'm poorly so I sat on the couch and stuffed (not myself)....
It's surprising what you get done when you watch TV and just plod away.
Your probably wondering what all this is going to be.
Hopefully I will have them finished to show you tomorrow.
P.S. Fiona is looking for the postman, does anyone know where he is?

I am lucky to be part of this wonderful on line group.  One of the things I love is not only making the swap or receiving the swap but trying to work out who your party will be for that swap (yes I know I'm a snoop).  So I've been watching the blogs and I had it narrowed down to three people.....
But yesterday and today I have been a little poorly (cough cough) and going to the post office has not been on my agenda, but today I had to go and get some stamps and it was so worth the trip there was a parcel for me.  So my partner turned out to be the gorgeous Sharon from Lilabelle Lane.  I follow Sharon all the time and believe me she is AMAZING.  She sews the most wonderful things and the amount of sewing she gets through, she has four children and always at sporting events....makes me tired reading about it she must be exhausted doing it lol..
My parcel started like this..
How pretty is the envelope..
Beautifully wrapped...
The swap theme this time was Tilda...lot's of beautiful things in this book..
How gorgeous is this, the Reindeer is cross stitched and beautifully done he is now in the sewing room...
Look at my haul of loot - ok yes the Allsorts are Allgone but I'm poorly remember don't you need a treat when your poorly?
Thanks Sharon I love everything and big thank you to Peg and Shez for organising such a great swap.

This weekend I put down the Santa's and Reindeer's, donned the wet weather gear (boy has the weather been bad since I got back from holidays) and out I went.  I am busily planting natives,
The little green machine makes things much easier....
Yesterday we had delivered two new stud ewes...
Meet Blossom (the bigger one) and Daisy (the little one).  Blossom isn't looking her best at the moment she is in the middle of shedding her coat but I think she is very special.

On a negative note we have a fox hovering at night at the moment so hubby and I take turns getting up to check on things and if I catch that fox I am going to put my size 8 up it's backside and boot it into the dam (any animal lovers please don't email me about animal cruelty.....I'm still gonna boot it).
I also managed to cook a beautiful (even if I do say so myself) roast for the family, made a huge pot of pumpkin soup, did laundry - no wonder Santa didn't get a look in.
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Friday, 11 July 2014

Yesterday was Santa sewing day.  Today was Reindeer day (well that's only fair don't you think?).
So I made these...
And Santa from yesterday was a little lonely so he got a friend..
When I start sewing I always wonder what they will turn out looking like and lots of things end up in the bin, but I think Santa was happy with his new friend - I am.

Thursday, 10 July 2014

Yep that's right I said Santa, so if you are a Grinch and think July is too early to be talking Christmas then best you look away..
I have been invited to take a trading table at an upcoming quilting function and at the time it sounded like a great idea and now with only a few weeks to go I have realised I must get a move on.  I must be getting older because it takes me twice as long to make things.  But I have started....
So this one came out ok so I made a couple more..
And then this...
Turned into this..
He just needs his face finished and tonight I am making him a little friend (no one should be alone at Christmas)..
So at least I have a few things for the table and a basket of Reindeers that are sitting at my feet waiting to be cut out.....
Hope you are sewing something fun.

Sunday, 6 July 2014

I have a very dear friend.  She is the most wonderful women, she is 83, a tiny little powerhouse.  She came to this country from Sicily over 60 years ago to marry the man she had been in love with since she was 11.  He had arrived in Australia two years prior to her and it took him this long to save for her passage to Australia.  I often sit at her kitchen table and listen to the most wonderful stories she tells me about her life and I am incredibly grateful for the love and kindness she gives me.
Beside being a wonderful person she is the most AMAZING cook.  Our home is often filled with food she sends over, home made pasta, sauce, schnitzels, crostolli, lasagne and I could go on an on.
But yesterday she made my favourite Sfinci or Italian donuts..
I think you need to see them up close..
They are delicious, light and fluffy and you can't stop at one.  I came home with five plates and by the end of the day they were all gone (no I didn't eat them all myself).
So what do you do when you have had one or two (okay maybe a few more) of these little pillows of love, take your dog for a walk with her on the tape measure because you can't find the lead..
I hope your weekend included something special..

Wednesday, 2 July 2014

I have been home from my holiday for a week back into the laundry, cooking and cleaning and you wonder holiday what holiday lol!
So before it becomes just a memory I want to share a little bit of it with you..
One day we did fabric dying and it was wonderful watching all the fabric and linen blowing in the breeze, all of this fabric started white..
I felt like a queen staying in this room..
The sunset from my room..
The gardens were AMAZING..
The retreat was amazing with a private chef, full staff who just ran after you, white fluffy bath robes and a group of the most amazing women who I now call dear friends.
It really was a wonderful time, so just to keep me grounded I am know going start the huge basket of ironing calling my name.
Have a wonderful day.
