Another finish.
This poor little quilt has been waiting for a week for me to sew the buttons on..
It was quilted by the beautiful Jewells over at jewells58.blogspot.com.au she had that little puppy quilted and returned quick as lightning..thanks Jewells.
The back was pieced from the left overs.
It has come in very handy over the last few days when it has been very chilly.

I am on lamb watch.
Any day now Blossom and Daisy will have their babies (I have been saying that for a week) but when I got up today I thought today was the day.  Poor Blossom had taken herself away from her friends and was up, down, up, down and I thought here we go..

Nope half an hour later she was up and about and back munching....fingers crossed maybe tomorrow.
So what to do on a freezing cold windy Winters day...
I made blueberry muffins and put some beautiful Ox cheek in the oven to slow cook it has been there all day and the house smells yummo, add some mashed potatoes and tea will be cracker jack.
I have all my applique on my Bunny Hill quilt..
And I made some of these..
Some pennies for a little swap present later in the year..
And I just came back from double checking my girls and there may not have been a baby today but there was a very pretty..
How special is that?

I had a lovely day today.
The beautiful Jo from ButterZ emailed me to say she was coming over to this side of the city and going to Pakenham.  Now I haven't been there for about 15 years but I know where it is..just up the road a little.  So we arranged to meet for lunch.  Boy did I get a shock when I got there, it use to be a tiny town with one main street now it's HUGE.  Jo rang me to see where I was, I had no idea it had changed so much.  She stayed on the phone and guided me into town and we went to a cafĂ© and had a lovely lunch and a good old chat.
On my way home I had to get fuel so I had no idea where the petrol station was so I just went down the first road I could find and just kept going.  Found the station got the fuel back out on the highway and driving along, see a sign and yep I'm going the wrong way. Get back on track go home the back way using the short cut hubby told me about and yep I'm lost.  I did get home eventually but it was via the scenic route.
I think Jo might have got home before I did!
I finally finished the quilt for my grandson,
Just a panel and some squares..
Hanging on his cot ready for him tomorrow..
Makes his room nice and bright.
Well off for a cuppa after my big drive.
Thanks for your company today Jo it was such a treat.

So this is what 6.30am looks like...
Eight degrees - it's almost Summer.
Granny is off to babysit for the day, not sure starting the day ay 6am is my cup of tea.
After Granny duty I thought I might get some binding done since I hadn't done any for a while.
You wouldn't believe it you get all the way to the last corner and you hit a join in the binding grr..
At least tea is ready and the house smells really yummy..
Lamb shanks and mash - nothing better..

Wow how cold was it today?
I finished all my chores, turned off the phone, hid the car and snuck down into the sewing room.
Even on a gloomy day beautiful fabric makes you happy..
All the blocks are now pieced, the blocks are quite large so they came together very quickly.
Onto the applique.
But tonight - more binding.

The weather has stayed cold and miserable.
So today I decided to have an inside day.
I did a bit of cooking.
I made some pasta sauce from the tomatoes from the market, they were 5 kilos for $1.99 - a bargain.
Then the start of some Chicken and Leek Pies..
Smells good in here...
Then I worked my way through a basket of laundry that required a ladder to get to the top, it was ENORMOUS.
Then finally I got to sit..
And just for a change I thought I might do a bit of binding!!

Our neighbour has a dog that for some reason thinks it's nicer to come and visit with us rather than stay in his own backyard.
The trouble is he likes to visit in the early hours of the morning.  This morning it was just after 4 yep 4am.  So out we go in the freezing cold and rain to catch him and keep him somewhere safe till the sun comes up and we can send him home.
The only trouble then is you are wide awake and can't get back to sleep grrrrr...
When daylight did come it brought lot's of this..

Pouring rain and boy is it cold...
Well I'm up so I may as well do something...
Sausage roll anyone..
What about a little sewing..
Bit more Bunny Hill, how beautiful is that fabric..
I'm going to piece all the blocks before I do the applique, four down...
Little tired after my early start - I might just grab a quilt and snuggle on the couch for a while and grab a little Granny nap.

I finished a very simple quilt.
Nothing fancy.
Didn't even sit flat.
The beautiful Fiona from Bubz Rugz kindly said she would quilt it for me.
She sent me a photo of it the day she pinned it, I started laughing all her little pins were lined up in beautiful neat rows and the quilt was beautiful and flat.  It was hard to believe that was the same quilt I sent her - all the lumps were gone.  She must have spent hours and had both her feet on the table as she pulled with both hands to get it that flat.
Then she worked her magic..
Lot's of feathers..
Beautiful feathers..
And it looks just beautiful on Cheryl and Micks bed..
Thank you so much Fiona you really did turn a Pigs Ear into a Silk Purse.

Moo and I needed a few days to recover after our traumatic start to the day last week.
No better way to make you feel happy than to start a new project.
I put my arm in the cupboard and pulled out this treasure.
I loved this when I bought it years ago.
I loved it so much I bought all of this..
So instead of stroking it and loving it from afar, it was time to get stuck in.
I cut the first two blocks.  Isn't that fabric just beautiful?
The first block done and dusted, so very exciting.
Have a happy Sunday and I hope you get the chance to do something that makes you happy.

I am not a big drinker.  On a VERY special occasion I will have one drink and my choice of drink is..

In a long glass with soda water and some lime.
This morning I was making my porridge and coffee for breakfast and then all I could hear was really loud banging.  I looked out the front...nothing.  So looked out the side...nothing.  Looked into the paddock and I started running..
Holy cow Moo, how did you get that thing stuck on your head?  I mean stuck fast.
I am new to this cow thing, the most I use to know was if you went to Safeway you could buy it on a tray and take it home for dinner.
I am a little scared of Moo and I like to stay on my side of the fence.  Today I had no choice - in I went.  She was extremely upset and going round and round in circles and the feeder was flying in the air, banging on the ground, into poles and fences so I tried to stay calm and thought maybe I could just lift it off her!!
Okay so not one of my smartest thoughts and I have the bruise on my leg to prove it.
So in nearly 30 years of marriage I have only ever rang hubby at work twice and made him come home, today became number three.
So I worked out if I held the feeder up so it wasn't dragging her head down or banging on the ground she would stay calm and still.  So I held it up off the ground and used my cow whisperer voice and waited for help, boy was I happy to see that car drive down the road.
So the long and short of it is..
Moo no longer has a necklace.
Yes Fiona I needed the Teena Lady.
By the time I got back inside I needed a little something to help calm my nerves and I'm sure in a country somewhere a little Vodka on top of your morning porridge is totally acceptable.
